For instance, if your home has uPVC doors a common technique favoured by burglars is to snap the cylinder and force entry. This problem has been highly publicised by various news channels and publications, it can be done incredibly quickly with very basic tools! On this basis the very minimum security requirement we advise is snap resistant cylinders to help safeguard your home. Currently the highest level of security for a uPVC (euro) cylinder is 3* British Standard.

Easy Upgrades
Another easy upgrade option is Pas 24 handles, these would just replace your existing handles with no fuss. They are usually made from much higher quality, stronger materials. They cover and protect the cylinder from being snapped, the only accessible point being the area where you insert the key.
However if you have wooden doors, whether it’s a night latch (Yale type lock) or mortice lock (what customers usually describe as old Chubb style lock with old fashioned key) these need to meet current British Standards to comply with home insurance recommendations – BS 3621. A good tip is to inspect your lock to see if it bears the BS kite mark.
