Christmas is quickly approaching. Putting up decorations, buying presents it’s all very exciting but now is not the time to ignore your home security!
Various sources suggest that the average UK family will roughly spend anywhere from £1000 to more than £2700 throughout the Christmas period. Gifts tend to make up the lions share of the spend.
Now it’s crazy to think that all those expensive gifts will be left underneath the Christmas tree, usually on show from certain windows of your home where potential burglars would be able to see.
Don’t make yourself a target!
Make sure all locks are in perfect working order on all external entry points. Lock all doors and windows when leaving the property even if it’s just for short period of time. If you have an alarm, remember to set it. Most alarm systems have door and window contacts that will raise the alarm if breached. Security lighting and CCTV are also great deterrents.
Although this is very obvious advice, you’d be surprised how many burglaries we attend where the home owner failed to simply lock the door or arm the alarm before leaving the property and ultimately paid a very heavy price for a momentary lapse of judgement. Also by leaving the door unlocked it could possibly void your home insurance policy adding to the devastation of the incident!
